Job Overview/Purpose:

 

The Housing Project Coordinator will be responsible for administering the Haisla Elders Assistance Program (HEAP), a vital initiative aimed at supporting Haisla elders with funding for home renovation projects. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that eligible elders receive necessary assistance to improve the safety, comfort, and accessibility of their homes.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

Program Administration:


Manage all aspects of the Haisla Elders Assistance Program (HEAP), including intake, assessment of applications, and disbursement of funds.


Ensure compliance with program guidelines and policies, maintaining accurate records of all transactions and communications.


Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to streamline program processes and maximize efficiency.


Elder Support and Communication:


Serve as the primary point of contact for Haisla elders participating in the HEAP program, providing clear guidance and support throughout the application and renovation process.


Conduct site visits as needed to assess renovation needs and provide technical advice and recommendations.


Maintain regular communication with elders to ensure their needs are met and expectations are managed effectively.

 

Project Coordination:


Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other service providers to ensure timely and quality completion of renovation projects.


Monitor project timelines and budgets, addressing any issues or delays promptly.


Conduct final inspections to verify that renovations meet program standards and elder expectations.


Reporting and Documentation:


Prepare regular reports on program activities, including funding allocations, project statuses, and outcomes achieved.


Maintain detailed records of expenditures, invoices, and project documentation in compliance with organizational and funding requirements.


Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, funding requests, and program evaluations as needed.

 

Education Requirements:

 

Certificate in a related field (such as Office Administration, Housing Management, Project Management, Business Administration) or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience in program administration, preferably in a housing or community development context.


Knowledge of renovation processes and building codes would be an asset.


Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with elders, contractors, and community members.


Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software applications as needed.


Valid driver’s license and own vehicle is an asset.


Empathetic and respectful attitude towards elders and their cultural traditions.


Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.


Commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct in handling sensitive information.


Willingness to travel within the community and surrounding areas as required.
