School Bus Driver - On-Call

 Job Title:  School Bus Driver - On-Call 

 Department:  Education

Overview:

A school bus driver picks up students at designated bus stops, safely transports students to school, field trip events and other activities, as well as maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the bus itself.

 Duties:

• Picks up students at specified stops;
• Enforces school bus rules and regulations;
• Observes rules of the road and drives with caution;
• Makes sure all students enter and exit the bus safely;
• Transports student groups to extracurricular activities;
• Reports any disciplinary problems to Director of Education;
• Pre-trip inspection every morning.;
• Keep track of schedules of LOF, maintenance and vehicle inspections;
• Brings school bus to mechanic for maintenance as needed;
• Fills bus fuel tank at gas station;
• Ensures that interior and exterior of bus remain clean. 
• Provides emergency assistance and aid to students in distress;

Qualifications:

• Commercial Driver’s License is required. Valid class 2 with air brakes endorsement;
• Posses knowledge of the layout of the local area including alternate routes to school and activities;
• Ability to maintain a strict schedule to ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs;
• Must successfully pass written, vision, and skills test at DMV
• First aid training and certification required
• Criminal record check/vulnerable sector search
• Basic mechanical knowledge is as asset
• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred
• Must pass criminal record check
