Overview: 

A clerk's role is vital for the smooth operation of any business, especially in a marketplace with diverse specialty food vendors. Key responsibilities encompass providing exceptional customer service, preparing food orders, managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the proper care of equipment. Clerks must also prioritize health and safety by regularly sanitizing surfaces and performing thorough cleaning tasks. Performing these duties with dedication and meticulous attention to detail is crucial for creating a positive customer experience and driving business success.

 

 Duties:

  • Customer Service: Ensure customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  • Culinary Preparation: Prepare food orders with skill and efficiency.
  • Inventory Management: Keep coolers, snack aisles, and freezers (including ice cream and frozen yogurt) fully stocked. This includes groceries, chips, candy, and chocolates.
  • Produce Preparation: Manage the preparation of frozen fruits for yogurt and chop fresh vegetables for kitchen use.
  • Facility Maintenance: Conduct regular cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors across various areas including the solarium, store, kitchen, storage rooms, and bathrooms. This also includes dishwashing and sanitizing countertops daily.
  • Equipment Care: Clean the yogurt machine daily, and conduct a comprehensive deep clean weekly. Drain and clean the deep fryer weekly.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a clean and safe environment by sanitizing tables, coolers, freezers, and other surfaces regularly. This includes the thorough cleaning of bathrooms and the recycling of cardboard, plastics, and containers. 

Qualifications:

  • Grade twelve (12) minimum requirement;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word;
  • Must be willing and able to pass a criminal record check.
